March 26: Laugh it up

In the face of UCLA's fantastic feat on their way to the final four, Scarlett gave us a treat by performing her first real laugh! We both heard it; it was quite an amazing moment in our parenthood. It took us a few days, but we caught it on video.... click on the file format to view!

March 24: 14 weeks and going strong

Arley's been adding new cognitive tricks every day it seems. Yesterday, for the first time, she noticed and tracked and smiled at our dog that was running around the room. And she is using her hands so well, she surprised us when she grabbed on to an empty trash bag we dropped, thinking it had got caught on her baby carrier instead. Her attention-seeking fake cry is sounding more and more like a little girl's and this morning she made the closest think to giggle we've heard yet.

Here, she is practicing her head-up belly position with kicky-legs --- it is her precursor to a crawl, although I think she looks like an adorable tadpole.

March 23: Go Bruins!

Arley was a little worried when her Bruins were down 11 with 3 minutes to go.... but now cheers UCLA into the elite 8!

March 20: Cabbage Patch

No you didn't accidently come across a toy doll website. Here Arley poses (2nd from left of picture) with her friends from her mommies' group.

March 15: 3 Months!

Today is Scarlett's 3 month birthday. Unfortunately Google's Blogger website is not working correctly at the moment so I cannot post all the cute pictures from the last week. She's been busy, though--- among other things, Arley visited her first farmer's market where she encouraged us to by french black-truffle butter.... she certainly has great taste...

Speaking of taste... unfortunately, she still doesn'really like milk from a bottle--- add that to the fact that she much prefers to suck on our fingers as opposed to a pacifier, all signs point to her being a thumb-sucker like her mom. We will be accepting all donations for future dental work at this time.

I'll get more pix up as soon as Google lets me.

Our best to all of you.

Cheers!

11.5 weeks: march 6

Nothing for 3 weeks and then 2 posts in a few days... well... so.... we thought she was big, just not this big... Official stats: length 24 7/8" and 11lbs 11oz! Talk about a monster... that's 99th percentile in length! We can hardly believe it ourselves. We also got Arley her first pair of jeans... she looks so big! and so old!!!

March 2: 11 weeks

So sorry for the delay... but someone's been doing a lot of growing... yes, Arley continues to grow and thrive. She's unofficially well over 24" and about 11 1/3 pounds, so her trend of long and skinny continues. The official weigh-in is on Monday.

She's so long, in fact, when she's all stretched out she makes her 3-6mo outfits all stretched out!

We've had a host of visitors, including visits from her great aunt and uncle as well as spending some quality time with Morning and Hola.

We are still struggling a little to have her take a bottle consistently, but she is making many obvious cognitive improvements--- she's discovering the use of her hands in a coordinated way, she's becoming very vocal (not crying, but cooing and trying to imitate our verbal sounds), and most noteably, moving her head around to watch things and track people and things.

But enough with the rambling text... here's what everyone really wants... more pictures:
