Week 6: Jan 28

6 weeks, 10lbs, 23" (unofficial), college selected.

Ok, she's growing fast, but maybe not that fast.

Last week we had a couple of nice long sleeps... we are usually getting at least 1 4+ hour sleep in at night... once she stayed asleep for 5.5 hours, which was great!

Hola and Morning visited Scarlett this week, as well as our friends Aaron and Amy.

As an indication of how much she's grown, here is a picture of her in the same towel that she is swimming in on Dec 24... go back a take a look!

Finally, it isn't all roses... she has hit her developmental milestones by the book, and right at 6 weeks, she's started getting a little colicky... so here is one of her fussy faces... but she's still really cute! Her fits last a few hours, from about 9 to 11, but we think that is part of the reason for the extended sleeping time, which is a trade we'll take anytime!

Week 5: Jan 20

Scarlett is 5 week old, over 9 lbs and cuter than ever.

She is growing up so fast, many of her newborn outfits that were too large for her when we brought her home, are now getting too small... she's graduating from newborn sizes to 0-3M and we just got a shipment of 400 size 1-2 diapers (up to 15lbs) which, at the rate we've gone through diapers, will only last us a few weeks.

Since she is already out growing many of her outfits, we've stopped needing an excuse to dress her up all cute.

We also started to have dad feed her a bottle now and then.

Ever wonder what dad sees when he carries Arley around? Here's a dad's eye view.

Finally, she's so gosh darn cute and pink, it's hard to believe we misplace her sometimes. Darn honey, have you seen Arley around here?

Jan 15: Happy Birthday

Week 4: Arley is 1 month old!
>8lbs 6oz, over 500 diapers used; we're starting to lose track!

Clearly the hopes of daily updates were obvioiusly dashed lately as the tugs from work, friends, family, and baby make blogging a little difficult. Weekly updates are probably more likely from now on.

Last weekend grandma came to visit, and uncle stopped by on Friday.

Scarlett is continuing to grow up before our eyes (and her's); she loves to play on her activity mat and stare in the mirror.

Today we celebrated Scarlett's 1 month birthday by GeoCaching (a worldwide scavenger hunt using GPS; lots of fun). Scarlett even found her first GeoCache. Can you find it in the picture?

Here are some assorted cute pictures from this week:

20 days old and all is well.

Jan 3: Mall rat

19 days old, unofficially 7lbs 10oz! 21+ "

She's growing like a weed, and given how much she is eating (constantly), she better be.

We ventured out again, this time for lunch, and Scarlett got her first ride in a stroller.

She is also continuing her increase in alterness and vocalizations, here, she orients and coos at our old chocolate.

Jan 2: City life

18 days and so big!

We ventured out into 2006, and Scarlett had her first taste of Starbucks and Noahs... boy, she loved the double latte but wasn't a fan of the lox (just kidding- she love the lox!)---actually, she slept through the whole thing... it must have been the 9 meals she ate earlier and the car ride.

Scarlett also got another bath today: she started crying before we put her in the bath, but then actually *stopped* crying once we put her in the bath... and she absolutely loved being air dried with the hair dryer. Giggles all around.

And just in case there was any doubt that Scarlett isn't a chop off the old block... it is hard to believe these aren't carbon copies of each other, and instead, are actually separated by over 30 years (and a Y chromosome-- i.e., Dad at 6 days)!

Jan 1, 2006! Baby New Year!

17 days old and we celebrated New Year's in our own unique way... we started last night with a nice multi-course dinner (to allow for Arley's multiple feedings) which was followed by watching the ball drop in New York at 9pm, 12am, and reruns at 2am, 4am... Arley was really into celebrating, apparently... or, at least into really into eating.

Now at a solid 7+ lbs, it seems a lot of her weight is in her nicely developing second chin.

Up this week: taking down the tree and more visits from the Grandparents! We can't wait!
